Position Purpose

Teaching Assistant will work with high school students in the UAS Project. Perform teaching assistant duties related to the UAS Part 107 Project. This work includes attending the class, to be up to date on the topics covered, assisting the instructor as needed, then providing tutoring hours after the conclusion of the class. And responding to student inquires.

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

• Attend the class for which they will be assigned as a Teaching Assistant either on campus and/or on Zoom.

• Follow instructors guidelines and instructions related to class material and topics.

• Work with students in the classroom, and / or via Zoom.

• If there is an opportunity based on the lecture or assignments, the Teaching Assistant may assist students directly during class time.

• The teaching assistant will assist with any administrative or operational aspects of the class such as welcoming students, assisting with logins, etc.

• Maintain a weekly log of general student attendance/progress and assistance provided.

Education and/or Experience Requirements

. • Bachelor’s Degree required.

• Must have expertise and prior experience in UAS systems.

• FAA Part 107 Certification is preferred.

Professional Skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.

Knowledge in UAS systems, drone laws, and the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Regulations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.

Ability to understand and follow directions.

Ability to communicate with students.

Work Environment and Physical Functions

This position is in a classroom/office environment or online via Zoom. The employee needs to have a good internet connection to attend the class via zoom. Generally, an employee needs to be able to sit, stand, and navigate within the office area. The office equipment, either individually used or shared with a department, is the responsibility of all employees. Position may also require the ability to travel to various NYC locations.

Compensation: $18.00 to $22.00 per hour
