Systems Mapping Contractor

Location:  Minneapolis area, hybrid
Duration:  3 months

Intuitive is hiring a Systems Mapping Contractor on behalf of a client in the food manufacturing space. This consultant will lead a high-priority initiative to create a clear, detailed view of the organization’s enterprise and plant-level technology landscape across U.S. and Canadian operations.

The contractor will document systems, integrations, ownership, dependencies, data flows, and business impact—from core enterprise platforms to plant-specific applications and operational technology. This work will support technology planning, vendor rationalization, risk management, and long-term internal upkeep.

Key Deliverables

  • Complete enterprise and plant-level system inventory across U.S. and Canadian operations

  • Visual maps showing systems, integrations, data flows, dependencies, and business-process relationships

  • Documented mapping methodology, standards, definitions, and governance recommendations

  • Vendor and application-footprint assessment identifying overlap, concentration risk, dependencies, and rationalization opportunities

  • Lifecycle and risk view identifying end-of-life exposure, critical systems, and operational vulnerabilities

  • Prioritized recommendations and roadmap for deeper analysis, modernization, consolidation, or risk mitigation

  • Handoff documentation and a practical process for internal teams to maintain the system map over time

Required Qualifications

  • Significant experience leading systems mapping, process mapping, enterprise architecture, business architecture, or technology-transformation initiatives

  • Background in process engineering, operational excellence, Lean/Six Sigma, enterprise architecture, or a comparable consulting discipline

  • Ability to lead structured discovery in environments where documentation is incomplete and key knowledge resides with internal stakeholders

  • Experience documenting application portfolios, system architecture, integrations, data flows, process dependencies, and technology ownership

  • Strong ability to turn complex technical and operational information into clear, practical documentation and visual maps for business and IT audiences

  • Experience assessing application rationalization opportunities, vendor concentration, lifecycle risk, and technology dependencies

  • Excellent facilitation and stakeholder-management skills, including experience working with technical, business, and plant or operations teams

  • Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and build momentum on a high-visibility initiative

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food manufacturing, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, or another asset-intensive operating environment

  • Experience mapping both enterprise systems and plant- or site-specific applications

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Microsoft Fabric, and/or Microsoft Purview

  • Experience with application portfolio management, systems visualization, business capability mapping, or similar architecture and documentation tools

  • Experience creating sustainable documentation and governance processes that internal teams can maintain over time
