Work Hours: 1st shift position – 8 am to 4:30 pm – Minimal overtime

Introduction

Join our team at a leading technology company specializing in unmanned aerial systems (UAS). We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the integration of sensors and hardware onto UAS platforms. This role involves mechanical design, hardware testing, and user support to ensure successful deployment and operation of our systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
  • Proficient in CAD (minimum of 1 year experience, PTC Creo preferred)
  • FAA Part 107 certification acquired within three months of employment
  • Experience with UAS (drones) platforms (preferred)
  • Experience with Pixhawk autopilots (PX4 & Ardupilot)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to interpret requirements independently
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly motivated
  • Ability to work constructively within a team
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Prior work experience in the industry

Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with MAVlink (preferred)
  • Experience with hardware and software compatibility testing
  • Experience in change management facilitation

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Mechanical design of components related to sensors and hardware
  • Planning and execution of sensor and hardware integrations for new UAS platforms
  • Maintenance of existing sensor integrations
  • UAS flight testing
  • Wire harness design, fabrication, and documentation
  • Creation and maintenance of engineering drawings and bill of materials
  • Internal and user-facing documentation creation & maintenance
  • Level 2 engineering support
