Description

WSP is currently searching for a Local Geomatics Lead/Project Manager to join our Midwest Region Geomatics Team in St. Louis, MO or Kansas City, MO. This position plays an important role in delivering surveying and geospatial solutions for a variety of projects, supporting Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy, and other sectors. The successful candidate will manage project delivery, support business development, and mentor staff while ensuring technical quality and client satisfaction. 

 

Your Impact

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to office and field staff under senior management direction. 

  • Support team development through training and knowledge sharing.

Clients 

  • Maintain strong client relationships and represent WSP professionally. 

  • Assist in developing proposals, scopes, schedules, and budgets for projects; manage billing and account receivables for assigned projects. 

  • Support business development efforts and identify opportunities for growth. 

Expertise 

  • Manage geomatics projects including boundary and topographic surveys, LiDAR mapping, UAS operations, and GIS. 

  • Oversee production of plans and deliverables; perform QA/QC reviews. 

  • Leverage a variety of software and data processing systems to produce high-quality deliverables. 

  • Ensure compliance with applicable company policies, standards, regulations, and QA/QC procedures. 

Operational Excellence 

  • Coordinate field crews and office staff to meet project schedules and budgets. 

  • Maintain project tracking systems and manage survey equipment. 

  • Collaborate with internal departments and subconsultants to meet project needs. 

  • Support recruitment and onboarding of new staff. 

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. 

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in the in the field of land surveying or an associated field. 

  • 7-10+ years of experience in the field of land surveying and geospatial services. 

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in Missouri and/or Kansas, with ability to be licensed in both states within 6 months. 

  • Proven leadership, team-building, and communication skills. 

  • Experience managing schedules, budgets, staff, and equipment. 

  • Proficiency with CAD and survey data processing software. 

  • Strong knowledge of land survey principles, practices, and methods. 

  • Ability to work independently and lead teams effectively. 

  • Possess a willingness to both learn and teach others. 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and must be detail oriented, organized and responsive. 

  • Must have ability to make sound decisions including while under pressure or working on high liability projects.   

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and be willing to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree is a plus. 

  • Multiple PLS licenses in neighboring states is highly preferred. 

  • FAA Part 107, CP/CMS, GISP, or PMP certifications. 

  • Possess advanced knowledge or training in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation Open Roads Designer, Leica Infinity or Trimble Business Center, Esri ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office Suite. 

  • Possess experience in both the field and office performing a variety of different types of geomatics work is a plus, especially in the Missouri/Kansas area and with the various public agencies and private organizations that operate in this region. 

  • Possess experience preparing estimates and proposals, participating in business development, and being responsible for billing and account receivables for projects under their name.  

  • Possess existing client base.

Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $95,000 - $169,290 

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and may offer additional benefits and compensation, depending on circumstances and the type of work being performed not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
