About the Role:
In this role, you’ll be an essential part of our survey team, assisting with the surveying of established and proposed power facilities while upholding ATCO’s commitment to safety and operational excellence. You’ll work hands-on in the field, supporting the setup and operation of surveying instruments, performing topographic surveys, and construction staking for electrical facilities. Your attention to detail and willingness to learn will be key as you perform calculations, prepare field notes, and contribute to the design and alignment of powerline structures.
What You Get To Do:
Operate surveying instruments with proficiency, adhering to ATCO's standards and safety protocols.
Provide insightful recommendations on pole placement and heights for optimal powerline design.
Conduct detailed topographic surveys and construction staking for electrical facilities.
Perform precise calculations for surveying applications, powerline design, and civil construction projects. Perform calculations related to surveying theory, powerline design, and civil construction.
Draft field notes and drawings that align with design standards, highlighting topographic details and infrastructure layouts.
Manage the alignment process for easement applications and sketches, ensuring clear and accurate documentation.
Define brush clearing extents, establish project control points, and locate existing utilities with accuracy.
Maintain survey equipment to ensure its optimal performance and reliability.
Operate independently, managing your tasks with minimal supervision.
Travel frequently across ATCO Electric's service areas, including overnight stays, to meet project needs.
What You’ll Bring:
High School diploma or equivalent, complemented by a Survey/Geomatics Certification program or Certification in Survey/Civil Technology from a recognized technical or distance learning institution.
3 years of directly related experience.
Proficiency in using survey-related instruments and software applications.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
Valid First Aid Certification.
A strong understanding of safety practices and the ability to work effectively in diverse terrain and weather conditions.
