The UAS Student Worker will consistently collaborate with and support the School of Aeronautics department, students, and employees with various tasks involving the UAS program. The overall purpose of this position is to properly manage the LUSOA UAS fleet, while assisting instructors and students involved in the UAS flight courses. This position will support the School of Aeronautics and associated personnel with the following functions:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize and maintain the UAS storage room.
  • Schedule flight lessons.
  • Check equipment in and out for instructors.
  • Organize and update UAS course documentation.
  • Prepare equipment for scheduled UAS lessons.
  • Request and keep current UAS airspace unlocking licenses.
  • Request FAA waivers as needed.
  • Perform both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Track, record, and organize UAS flight logs and reports.
  • Monitor and track UAS system status and performance data.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment power supply and charging.
  • Assist in plans to maximize success for all the School of Aeronautic students.
  • Assist with sending surveys to collect data from current and past students.
  • Attend daily check-in meetings as needed.
  • Collaborate with, assist, and support PT UAS Instructors, UAS Operations Coordinator, UAS Director, and additional personnel as needed in the School of Aeronautics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

  • Must be a registered student at Liberty University. Current School of Aeronautics student is preferred.
